
Birgit Højstrup, MSc, Environmental Biology, is a highly experienced principal consultant, based in Copenhagen, Denmark. She brings almost 30 years of experience in the environmental consulting field with a focus on environmental liability assessment and management. Birgit currently directs many international projects, including fast track transaction related assignments for multinationals and financial institutions.
She has worked extensively on vendors, mergers and acquisitions ranging from large multi site cross-boarder transactions to smaller venture capital-type investments for small and medium enterprises. Birgit has a detailed understanding of the transaction process and can provide options and remedies for many environmental as well as health and safety issues as they arise, within the specific context of the transaction. She is experienced in addressing the EHS liabilities from the technical solutions to the incorporation into warranties or insurances.
This due diligence work has enabled Birgit to gain knowledge of a range of sectors including: energy (oil, gas and renewables); food; pharmaceutical; waste management; chemicals; engineering; general manufacturing; transport infrastructure and finance. Additionally she has worked on portfolios of real estate transactions.
Birgit has been involved with the CAT Alliance since its inception over 15 years ago, and has advised on numerous national and international transactions, managing and working as part of global project teams.
